Family Peer Support
Family Peer Support Specialist delivers peer support through face-to-face support groups, phone calls, or individual meetings. They bring expertise based on their own experience parenting a child or youth with social, emotional, behavioral, or substance use challenges, as well as specialized training, to support other parents and caregivers. Working within a peer support framework that recognizes the power of mutuality and experiential understanding, Family Peer Support Specialist deliver education, information and peer support.
Parents trying to identify and access appropriate services for their child may find child-serving systems (e.g. mental health, education, juvenile justice, child welfare, substance use treatment) complicated and overwhelming. Family Peer Support Specialist support can help these parents navigate systems more effectively, learn from the experiences of other families, feel less alone, and gain hope, ideas, and information. This support can help parents meet their children’s needs more efficiently, and with greater confidence and hope.

How to get started
To start your journey with us, the first step is to schedule an intake appointment with one of our dedicated intake specialists.
During this initial consultation, our intake specialist will carefully assess your case to determine the most suitable course of action. Depending on your needs, this may involve therapy, peer support services, or a combination of both.
Peer Support helps many clients with grief from separation or loss, parents divorcing, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, and other problems.
Peer Support Cost
At LBHS, we believe that everyone should have access to quality mental health services, regardless of their financial circumstances. That’s why we offer a flexible sliding scale fee structure for Peer Services. This means that the cost of therapy is based on income. LBHS also takes into consideration familial extenuating circumstances to ensure that our services remain affordable for all. In addition to our sliding scale fees, we provide scholarship opportunities for those who may require further financial assistance. Scholarships are available, and individuals are encouraged to apply for these programs to help cover the cost of peer support sessions. New clients will be sent the sliding scale/scholarship application in preparation for their intake appointment.
We are proud to accept Medicaid as a means of payment for our services. This commitment to accessibility ensures that individuals who qualify for Medicaid can access our peer support programs without any financial barriers. Our mission is to make mental health support as accessible as possible, and we are dedicated to working with our clients to find the best payment options for their needs.
