Peer support is an important part of recovery from mental illness and substance use disorders. LBHS offers low cost peer mentorship in Spanish and English. People who are struggling with a mental/emotional condition or a substance use disorder can meet with a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS). Family Members of people who are struggling with a mental/emotional condition or a substance use disorder can meet with a Family Resource Facilitator (FRF).
CPSS are people who have struggled with a mental/emotional condition or a substance use disorder and are maintaining recovery. They have skills learned in a formal training, to deliver services promoting recovery and resiliency.
FRFs are people who have a family member who has struggled with a mental/emotional condition or a substance use disorder. FRFs provide referrals to local resources and programs; advocacy for culturally appropriate services; links to information and support groups; and family wraparound facilitation. Each Family Resource Facilitator receives standardized training, coaching, and supervision.
