My name is Carla Astorga, I was born in Peru in 1974 and I have lived in Utah since 2005.
I am currently a Certified Peer Support Specialist in the State of Utah, Coordinator of LBHS in Summit and Wasatch Counties, I am also participating as Chair of the Mental Health Committee of the Wasatch Latino Coalition, previously I participated as Steering Committee Chair in NAMI – Utah (National Alliance of Mental Health) in Wasatch and Summit Counties.
Among my professional achievements is my own mental and emotional recovery, which has been and is what allowed me and allows me to help my peers and implement different mental health programs in two Utah counties (Wasatch and Summit), both in English and Spanish with the support from LBHS and NAMI Utah, from 2016 to present. As well as different recognitions and awards for the work I did.
One of my passions is to help my peers find their strengths within themselves, to learn to know their own recovery process living with a mental and/or emotional illness, how to prevent emotional crises and to obtain a good quality of emotional life.
